A Kent surgeon has topped the league in a ‘people’s choice’ website where patients get the chance to review their medical treatment.

Mr Simon Ellis, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Spire Alexandra Hospital in Walderslade, has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence from the iWantGreatCare website after receiving 265 five star reviews.

The largest independent medical review website in the UK, iWantgreatcare allows patients to share their care and treatment experiences in both private and NHS hospitals.

Initially a general trauma and orthopaedic surgeon Mr Ellis has, for the past ** years, concentrated totally on the knee and often attends national and international knee speciality meetings to keep abreast of new innovations.

His present rating of 265 five star feedbacks for satisfied patients include comments such as:

“My whole experience, from initial diagnosis to the operation and then follow-up appointments has been incredibly positive and I am really grateful that I can now return to the sports I love.”
“I am truly grateful for the care and treatment I received from Mr Ellis. Having spent months in extreme pain and discomfort I am now pain free.”
I would recommend Mr Ellis very highly. I can see why everyone has such high praise for his manner and patience during the consultation and for his skills during the actual operation.”

Mr Ellis, who has a special interest in sports-related knee injuries said he was delighted to discover he had received so many positive reviews.

“It is always good to have your work recognised by the people that really matter – the patients – so to have so many positive reviews is very encouraging.

“Every patient is different but I try to treat them all with the same courtesy and empathy. To see all these five star reviews makes me think I must be getting something right!”
