Willmott Dixon receives recognition at prestigious awards
Willmott Dixon has scooped a prestigious accolade for its considerate behaviour when building the new St Augustine Academy development in Maidstone.
The company received a sought after Silver Award at the Considerate Constructor Scheme’s National Site Awards in London for the project, in recognition of delivering a highly sustainable development that was built with consideration for the local community.
The £11.6million expansion project includes the construction and fit out of a new two storey academy building, refurbishment and conversion of an existing block, and the demolition of another.
The project for Kent County Council also comprises an off-site car park, additional on-site car parking and two multi-use sport surfaces.
Willmott Dixon also walked away with three Silver Awards for its Bell Farm Junior School, Burhill Community Primary School, and Moorlands Primary School developments and a Bronze Award for its WWF UK Living Planet Centre project.
Since 1999, the Considerate Constructors Scheme has been rewarding the UK's most considerate sites for the contribution they have made towards improving the image of construction. The Scheme looks at the measures a site has put in place to be more considerate towards local neighbourhoods and the public, the workforce, and the environment.
Willmott Dixon’s Managing Director John Waterman, said: “It’s fantastic to be recognised for all the hard work our team put in to delivering a sustainable new development. We’re very proud of all of our projects and work to maintain a high standard of sustainability across the business.”
Roger Gough, Kent County Council Cabinet member for education and health reform, said: “Creating high quality places for children to learn is a vital part of providing high quality education in the county. At the same time, we always treasure our relationships with the communities around every school. I am pleased that this recognition shows how Willmott Dixon shares these priorities with us.”
