EVENT: Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance to perform in Malling - full details

Tuesday 13th August 2019

ACTOR Charles Dance returns for a second performance as part of Music@Malling.

The Game of Thrones actor will narrate James Pearson’s exploration of the jazz influences on Stravinsky alongside The Soldier’s Tale. The world premier by artistic director of Ronnie Scott’s is one of 30 events running from September 15-28 at historic venues in and around West Malling.

The festival will include a mix of classical, jazz, world, film and vocal music events. This year 15 primary schools will also be involved in staging Roald Dahl’s The Three Little Pigs, set to music, in four performances in the town and at Kings Hill. Other outreach events include Go Compose and Side-by-side performances with Chamber Domaine and The Callum Au Big Band – giving young musicians across Kent the chance to work with professional musicians.

Other highlights include a series of chamber concerts in the fabulous setting of Malling Abbey, exploring the 450 years of music, and premiers of chamber works by leading film composers Ilan Eshkeri and Danny Elfman, the composer of The Simpsons theme tune.

Artistic director Thomas Kemp said: “This is a very exciting series of concerts and outreach with a unique and fascination mix of music, featuring world class artists performing in historic venues.”
