Efit of man wanted for Snodland distraction burglary and East Malling offences

Thursday 11th August 2016

Officers investigating a reported distraction burglary in Snodland have released an efit image of a man they believe can help with their enquiries.
It is reported that at approximately 1pm on Wednesday August 3, the suspect approached an elderly resident in Nevill Road, Snodland, and offered to work on her garden.
He has subsequently entered the property and a gold necklace was stolen.
He is described as being white, in his 30s and around 5ft 10ins tall. He has a slim build and is clean shaven.
Similar reports have also been received for two properties in East Malling and officers are not ruling out the possibility that they may be linked.
The first incident is reported to have taken place at a property in Lilac Green, East Malling, on Wednesday 27 July between 2.30pm and 3pm. A handbag is reported to have been taken.
The second is reported to have taken place at a property in Dickens Drive, East Malling, between 3pm and 3.15pm on Monday 1 August. A mobile phone is reported to have been stolen.
Kent Police would like to remind residents of the following advice which could help them avoid becoming a victim to distraction burglars:

Always ask for ID when someone knocks on your door.
If you are presented with ID, look up the company they are claiming to be from online or in the phonebook and call them. Do not trust a number a cold caller gives you. If they are genuine, they will not mind waiting.
Fit extra security measures such as spy holes, door chains, door locks and intruder alarms.
Do not be afraid to turn people away.
