Free water bottles at The Mall

Tuesday 3rd March 2015

THE Mall Maidstone is helping its customers to reduce their impact on the environment by giving away re-usable water bottles.

With UK consumers using more than 18 billion plastic bottles each year, when only a quarter of these are recycled, sadly 38 million plastic bottles end up in landfill every day.

As part of it is annual EnviroMall campaign, The Mall Maidstone is offering shoppers a free environmentally-friendly, re-usable water bottle until March 8 (while stocks last).

Visit the Ask Me Point at The Mall to receive your free re-usable bottle and start re-filling to help the environment.

General manager, Andy Davy, said: “By helping to educate our local community on simple steps that everyone can take to be more environmentally aware, we hope we can work together to make a big difference.”

Last year, The Mall generated 5,885 tonnes of waste, which is equivalent to the weight of almost 400 London buses. Some 80 per cent of this waste was recycled and 11 per cent used to generate energy meaning 91 per cent was diverted from going direct to landfill.
