LOCAL BOOST: Elmer Parade's £7m injection into local economy

Wednesday 20th October 2021

MAIDSTONE enjoyed a nine-week £7m boost to its local economy during Heart of Kent Hospice's Big Elmer Parade.
Organisers say that in addition to raising money for the Aylesford end-of-life care charity, Heart of Kent Hospice (HoKH) and raising the profile of its 30th anniversary, trade was boosted by 230,000 visitors.
A survey commissioned by Wild in Art shows that the trail was enjoyed by 230,979 visitors – with 61% spending four days or more in the area finding all the Elmers. The Parade had a total economic impact of just over £7m.
The auction of 51 Elmers raised £312,000 for HoKH.
