M20 DELAYS: Agency's full list of road works in the next week - details

Highways England has released its weekly summary of expected delays, diversions and disruptions in the coming week.

The agency has issued the following statement:

Planned roadworks in Kent and Sussex: weekly summary for Monday 24 June to Sunday 30 June

The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of 21 June but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

 

M20 junctions 3 to 5, Maidstone Kent: Smart Motorways

Work to improve journeys continues this week on the M20 between junctions 3 – 5. There are currently narrow lanes and a reduced speed limit of 50mph in place 24/7.  On Monday 24 June for 5 nights there will be various lane 1 & 2 closures on the main M20 and M26 both London and coastbound.

Free recovery service and speed enforcement remain in place to ensure drivers and road workers safety.

 

M20 junctions 9 to 7, Kent: essential maintenance

Overnight maintenance work on the London-bound M20 continues this week. From Monday 24 June, we will be carrying out surveys and maintenance work on the M20 between junctions 9 to 7 on the London-bound carriageway. This requires overnight closures of the London-bound carriageway, between 8pm and 6am, from Monday 24 June for at least five nights.

 

M20 Junction 9 to 11, Kent: Junction 10a Construction
Work to improve the network continues this week on the M20. There are currently 24 hour lane closures and 50mph speed restriction in place in both directions between junctions 9 and 11. This will remain in place until January 2020.

 

M23 junctions 8 to 10, Surrey: Smart Motorways

Work to improve journeys continues this week on the M23. On Tuesday 25 June for 2 nights, there will be lane closures leading to full closures of the junction 9 exit slip northbound and exit slip southbound between 8pm and 5am.  There will be a fully signed diversion route in place via junction 10 of the M23, A2011, A23, Airport Way and into Gatwick airport.

 

On Thursday 27 June, there will be lane closures leading to a full closure from junction 8 – 10 southbound between 10pm and 5am.  There will be a fully signed diversion route to Brighton via junction 6 Godstone M25, A22, A264 and re-join the M23 at junction 10.  For Gatwick via junction 10 of the M23, A2011, A23, Airport Way, and into Gatwick airport. On Thursday 27 June, there will also be a full closure of the Godstone to Crawley link between 10pm and 5am with a diversion to junction 8 of the M25 and back to junction 6 to follow the signed diversion via the A22, A264 to junction 10 of the M23.  On Thursday 27 June, there will also be a full closure of the Reigate to Crawley link between 10pm and 5am with a fully signed diversion to M25 junction 6, A22, A264 to M23 junction 10.

 

Narrow lanes and a reduced speed limit of 50mph north and south bound 24/7.   Free recovery service and speed enforcement are now in place to ensure drivers and road workers safety.

 

A2 Barham, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve the network continues this week on the A2 from Barham to Coxhill. From Monday 24 June there will be a full closure of the eastbound A2 carriageway from the Barham Interchange to Coxhill Road for five nights between 8pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the A299 and the A256.

 

A2 Gravesend, Kent: resurfacing

Work to improve the network continues this week on the A2 in Gravesend. From Monday 24 June the A2 eastbound carriageway will be reduced to one lane between the Tollgate junction and Marling Cross for five nights between 8pm and 6am. In addition, from Monday 24 June there will be a full closure of the A2 entry and exit slip roads to & from Marling Cross along with a full closure of the A2 entry slip road from the Tollgate junction for five nights between 8pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junction.

 

A2 Boughton-under-Blean, Kent; Survey Investigations

To improve the network, surveys begin this week on the A2 to ascertain the current ground condition of the carriageway. From Monday 24 June 2019 there will be lane closures in both directions of the A2 carriageway between Brenley Corner roundabout and Winterbourne Wood overnight between 8pm and 6am. These lane closures will return for one night between 8pm and 6am on Wednesday 26 June. In addition, the A2 eastbound exit slip road to Canterbury Road will be closed overnight on Monday 24 June 2019 and Wednesday 26 June 2019 between 8pm and 6am. A clearly signed diversion will be in place via the next available junction. 

 

A21 Tonbridge, Kent: weakened structure
For the safety of road users there is currently a 50mph speed restriction, and also a weight restriction between Philpots Lane overbridge and the junction of London Road A26 in both directions of the A21.

 

A27 Hollingbury, Sussex; Survey Investigations

To improve the network, surveys begin this week on the A27 to ascertain the current ground condition of the carriageway. From Monday 24 June 2019 there will be lane closures in both directions of the A27 carriageway between Patcham Court Farm and Coldean Lane for five nights between 8pm and 6am. In addition, the A27 westbound entry slip road from Hollingbury will be closed for four nights from 8pm to 6am. On Friday 28 June, there will also be a closure of the eastbound A2 exit slip road to Hollingbury overnight from 8pm to 6am. A clearly signed diversion for each slip road closure will be in place via the next available junction. 

 

 

A27 Worthing, Sussex: Construction

Work to improve safety continues this week by repairing sections of the A27. There are currently 24 hour lane closures in both directions between Cote Street and Dover Lane. These will remain in place until July 2019. In addition, from Monday 24 June there will be a full overnight closure of the eastbound A27 carriageway between Clapham and the A24 from 8pm and 6am for six nights. A clearly signed will be in place via the A280 onto the A24.

 

A2070 Ashford, Kent: Junction 10a Construction
Work to improve the network continues this week on the A2070. There is currently a contraflow with 40 mph speed restriction in place between The Boulevard and the M20 Junction 10.
