MYSTERY BLAZE: Police in forensics suits at scene of shop fire in Maidstone

POLICE officers in forensics suits are this morning at the scene of fire in the centre of Maidstone.

Two police cars are outside the Marmaris Off-Licence and Groceries store in Mote Road and the front of the premises is taped off.

Three white-suited forensics officers were seen at 9am this morning following the mystery blaze at the business at around midday yesterday.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire in a flat in Mote Road, Maidstone, at 12:30pm yesterday.

"Four fire engines and a height vehicle attended, and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire in the roof space using hose reel jets.

"There were no reported injuries, and the cause is not known. Kent Police also attended."

Kent Police have been approached for comment.
