THE England Hockey Board has given Maidstone hockey club the award for best marketing campaign to grow the hockey nation, following its promotional efforts around London Olympic Games 2012.

The club was praised for running “the big dribble” and hockey house at Armstrong Road, and for using these activities to promote the sport to the wider community in the town. The club also used its website, Facebook, Twitter, newsletters, school contacts and the local media to spread the hockey message.

Club chairman Roger Daniels, who received the trophy, said: “This trophy is very important to the club strategically in sustaining the recognition by and support from England Hockey Board that opens up funding and other opportunities for us.”
