Maidstone YMCA create short film about all the work staff and parents do

Thursday 21st February 2019

MAIDSTONE YMCA has made a short film about the work staff and parents do.

The four minute promotional video was filmed and edited by Wildwood media over the course of a typical two day period at the Maidstone Sports and Community Centre.

The YMCA-funded film was posted on YouTube on February 5, featuring a range of staff and gym users praising the centre for being “such a nice and friendly place to work out in.”

It received nearly 1,000 views in its first ten days of being online.

Many people in Maidstone and the surrounding areas have fond memories of attending roller discos and youth groups at the YMCA and now bring their children along to enjoy the facilities.

Alexa Kersting-Woods, Business Manager at Maidstone YMCA said: “The most popular activity is definitely our roller skating events, it gives a chance for the kids to use up their energy after school, and the parents can sit and have a coffee.

“We made the video because I don’t think enough people actually know what we do here, we’re pretty tucked away and hidden, we aren’t on a main road or anything, but we just wanted to show how much we actually do.

“But it’s not all about the kids, we do offer a lot of facilities for adults too, including badminton, basketball, cricket, over 60's sessions, and fitness classes.”

Mums and dads have praised the group for its free crèche, so parents are able to use the gym without the worries of additional child care costs.

Today, Maidstone YMCA run two pre-schools, a health and fitness facility including gym and 65 different group exercise classes and a place for adults and children to take part in over 15 different sports.
