Maidstone rowers make Under23 GB Squad

Monday 21st July 2014

Two Maidstone Invicta Rowing Club members have been selected for the Great Britain squad for the U23 World Rowing Championships in Varese, Italy from July 23-27.

Morgan Hellen, formerly of Oakwood Park, and Tim Grant (both 21) will race in the men’s eight and men’s coxed four events respectively.

After starting their rowing careers at the Maidstone club at the age of 12, both have gone on to achieve huge success nationally and internationally. Hellen represented GB at the Junior World Rowing Championships in 2010 and is currently studying at the University of California, Berkeley, on a rowing scholarship. Grant competed at the U23 World Championships as well as the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in 2013. The lottery-funded athlete also recently won the student 8s event at the Henley Royal Regatta with Oxford Brookes University.

Anyone considering learning to row who would be interested in taster sessions should contact for further details.
