Romantic Maidstone FC fans can post their messages of love on giant LED screen

Friday 29th July 2016

As the new football season kicks off, Maidstone fans can enjoy seeing their name in lights.

The Gallagher Stadium is getting a large LED screen for the new campaign.

It will display the score and time during the match, with advertising and club messages before and after the game, as well as half time.

Measuring four metres by three metres, it will be positioned on the riverside boundary – offering good visibility for most spectators.

The screen is similar to the one installed at fellow Vanarama National League club Aldershot Town.

With a full colour, eye-catching display updated in real-time, big screen LED displays can also allow additional video material to be shown bringing a new dimension to the matchgoer experience.

The scope for different uses in future is huge and includes video replays of critical goals and information about high scoring players, plus match highlights at half-time or even fan-based announcements, from birthdays and marriage proposals to team mascots.

Aylesford-based telecoms and security company Icom, who were main club sponsors a few seasons ago, are sponsoring the screen, due to be installed this September.

Screen advertising slots are now on sale and because the message can be changed regularly, it is a cost-effective way of letting crowds of more than 2,000 spectators know about events or special offers, says the club.

Club chief executive Bill Williams said: “With the support of Icom and other friends like Britelite, who will be screen advertisers, we have taken the plunge to install this high quality screen.

“It will really add to the quality of the matchday experience at Maidstone United and give us a new outlet for companies wishing to advertise at the stadium as all our traditional perimeter boards have sold out.

“We have almost covered the installation costs, otherwise we simply would not have been able to afford it at this time of huge investment. There is still room for a few more local companies to help us and help their visibility by becoming screen advertisers.”

Icom managing director John Donoghue added: “We are delighted to be sponsors of the screen at the Gallagher Stadium. In our business we know the importance of good communications and how technology can enhance it. This new addition will give a more professional look to the place and be highly visible for advertisers.”
