URGENT APPEAL: Buttercups 'must close in six weeks' due to lack of funds
Friday 29th May 2020
BUTTERCUPS Sanctuary for Goats has launched an urgent appeal for funds.
The charity has just six weeks worth of emergency funding left to keep its doors open, with day to day costs rising.
The Boughton Monchelsea based sanctuary rescues goats that have suffered cruelty, neglect and abandonment. It is the only goat welfare charity in the UK.
A Buttercups spokesman said: "Because the Coronavirus outbreak has halted the flow of visitors and caused the loss of essential funding, the Sanctuary now desperately needs financial assistance to survive.
"Its emergency funding has now almost expired, leaving only another six weeks to keep its doors open. The cost of food, hay, daily medication, veterinary care, a safe, warm bed to sleep in and of course the work of the expert staff, all require continuous funding.
"When our funds are exhausted in a few weeks time, after 30 years of goat rescue, Buttercups must close its doors leaving 140 goats at risk, and for them only one scenario."
