Youth forum hears of life as an MP

Friday 5th December 2014

TRACEY Crouch visited Tonbridge and Malling Youth Forum after the group invited her along to learn more about her role as MP for Chatham and Aylesford.

Ms Crouch fielded questions from 15 young people from across the borough during the session in the council chamber at Kings Hill. Topics included Scottish Independence, immigration, housing issues and whether young people should have the right to vote at 16.

Zoë Poole, who co-chaired the meeting, said: “I really enjoy representing young people on the youth forum so finding out from Tracey Crouch what it’s like to represent people on a national scale at Westminster was really fascinating.  She made me realise that we all have a voice and, if we put our minds to it, we can raise important issues, bring about changes and help improve life in our local community and beyond.”
The forum is open to youngsters aged from 11 to 18, and members come from youth clubs, schools and community groups to discuss important local issues.
